I knitted this while watching the 79th academy awards. I sewed it up today and added the button. The picture on the pattern shows it all in stockinette stitch, but the pattern was messed up and I didn't realize this until after I knitted a few rows. I decided to leave the "character" in it, but adjusted the pattern later to fix it.

my first stripes!
I got one of those knitting kits (at the grocery store of all places) and although I don't care for the colors, figured it would be a good way to practice following patterns and learn how to do stripes. So here is my very first purse and stripes and button holes and buttons :) it was supposed to be in seed stitch but I couldn't seem to get that to work out, so I did stockinette stitch instead. It looks nothing like the picture, but it works :) I also learned how to do seed stitch since I've started this so maybe the other two patterns in the kit will turn out better (although I've found a mistake in the pattern for the matching sunglasses case, so that's going to be different too).
